Cove molding looks decent, even though it is just pine from Home Depot, and had to be ripped to fit precisely atop the stringer. I haven't yet decided whether to paint it white, but I'm leaning that way. I also will probably put a little caulk in the extremely small gap between the stringer and the treads/risers.
